Originally from Ohio and both alumni of The Ohio State University, Karen and her husband achieved their own dreams of living in beautiful Southwest Florida when they moved to Naples 16 years ago. Karen shifted from healthcare to real estate and credits her ability to remain calm under pressure through her experience of providing respiratory therapy for 15 years to those in the most critical state as Level I traumas, enabling her to navigate even the most difficult circumstances. In fast-paced and time-sensitive scenarios, her quick response and keen negotiating skills play a vital role in addressing challenges and seizing opportunities. Karen maintains a level-headed approach, which allows her to think critically, make rational decisions, and effectively manage the transaction. Her calm demeanor not only instills confidence in her buyers and sellers but also fosters an environment of trust with the representation on the other side of the transaction.
Together with her husband, Dr. David Wilkinson, Karen is an active part of the Collier County Medical Society, welcoming new practitioners and assisting them in establishing professional and personal connections within the community. Karen both guides physicians new to the area in finding a home through residential real estate as well as helps them work with a team of commercial REALTORS® in setting up a practice.
Karen and her husband are the proud parents of two grown sons, Jake and Isaac, who were students in both the local public and private schools of Naples. She remains well-connected to the administration and frequently makes introductions for incoming families seeking the best-fit education for their children.
Her hobbies include practicing yoga, attending Burn Bootcamp, and walking her rescue dog. Karen is a gardener and composter and lives a green lifestyle as much as possible. Additionally, she is a proud volunteer alongside alumni members of Kappa Alpha Theta with the National Court Appointed Special Advocate and guardian ad litem organizations, as foster care holds a special place in her heart.
Organ and tissue donation is another cause close to Karen's heart, as she and her husband have both been recipients. Karen detailed her family's public and private battle of David's double-lung transplant in the best-selling memoir "On Borrowed Breath." Through her advocacy, Karen was chosen to ride the Donate Life America float in the acclaimed Rose Bowl Parade in Pasadena.
